I teach a variety of sewing and textile arts, specializing in machine sewing, pattern making, garment construction, and quilting. My lessons cater to all skill levels, from beginners just starting their sewing journey to advanced sewers looking to refine their techniques. I'm passionate about helping my students develop a deep connection with the art of sewing, focusing on both creativity and technical proficiency. Whether you're interested in creating your own clothing, quilting, or exploring other fabric-based projects, I provide hands-on, engaging instruction to help you develop your skills and bring your ideas to life.
Sewing changed my life and I've seen it happen for others. Making one's own clothing or quilts and other projects is empowering. Just the ability to hem a pair of pants can mean the world to people. Sewing is also a calming activity that brings people a lot of peace. Often it connects them to family members and community. The possibilities are limitless!
I've been sewing for about 25 years and I'm always learning new techniques. I don't claim to the best seamstress or patternmaker. There is always more to learn, more mistakes to make, more new discoveries. I am constantly seeking out teachers and experts, whether in an actual classroom, online or in books. I hope I never get to "the end" of sewing. Learning is the best part.
I offer tons of encouragement. I want my students to feel comfortable and joyful when sewing and creating. I think the majority of my students are "home sewers," they're not looking to become professionals. I keep that spirit in tact by making it fun and project-based. I've found that when students leave with a physical project they've made, they feel more inspired to keep going.
Fellow artists, my daughter, the women in my community. I see so much vibrant artistry in my life. I just want to celebrate and contribute to it all.
