What do you teach?
I teach Voice, Piano and Songwriting.
What makes you want to share your skills and knowledge?
I have found so much freedom in music – it is the only outlet through which I’ve been able to untether myself and release into the magic of expression. Cultivating a relationship to an instrument is such a special process and it is an honor to witness someone connect to the music they are producing themselves for the first time. Teaching expands the relationship I have to my craft; there is infinite knowledge and power in the way we begin something, and I hope to help preserve the wonder and joy that accompanies the start.
What is your experience in your craft and how are you evolving?
I have been performing and playing music since the age of 5. I am a singer-songwriter based in LA and am currently writing an EP to be recorded later this year.
What is your style of teaching?
It is my hope to bring a gentleness and sense of ease to my lessons. As learning an instrument can be an arduous process, it is important to foster self-compassion and patience alongside your creative practice. I want students to feel excited/empowered and think this is best accessed in a place of compassion and playfulness.
What keeps you creatively inspired?
I am obsessed with the way everything connects to and mirrors everything else. I try to stay low to the ground and entrenched in the ordinary. I am inspired by the notion that low hanging fruit might be the hardest to reach for– the things everyone sees but hastily passes by.
